On The Road Again: Austin Bound July 15, 2016 17:17

We are hitting the road again for a trip to Austin. This city has been on our bucket list for far too long! Known for its amazing live music, western flare, delicious food, and amazing scenery, we can't wait to hit the ground running. Read on to see where we plan to go, stay, eat, and explore!

What to See:

Hamilton Pool

This natural swimming pool is not something you'll want to miss! This historic swimming spot became a nature preserve back in 1990, featuring beautiful limestone outcroppings and a 50 ft waterfall in certain times of the year (spring/summer). Around the pool, the preserve features gorgeous wildflowers, native grasses, and savannah oaks. This is the perfect place to pack a picnic to enjoy at one of the scenic picnic tables. You can also bring your hiking shoes for some pre-swimming exploring! Make sure to make a reservation at least two weeks ahead of time for your visit because the pool does get filled pretty quickly in the warmer months.

McKinney Falls State Park

Just 13 miles from the state capitol, this beautiful state park is one of the best places in Austin to camp, hike, or bike! With 81 campsites and a beautiful paved bike trail, you'll feel like your out of the city and completely immersed in nature with just a short drive. You can spend the morning exploring the park to get your nature fix and head back to the city for a delicious Austin meal by dinnertime! Just bring some blankets for sunbathing and casual hiking clothes to explore. And it is only $6 to get in the park for the day, how could you say no?!

And of course we had to search for the best Texas taco! La Condesa which specializes in contemporary mexican dishes does not disappoint. The food is as great as the vibrant, upbeat atmosphere! While street tacos are a plenty in Austin, we love this spot for a delicious sit down Mexican dish.
